Honduras Aldea Capucas

Honduras Aldea Capucas

Wogan

Butter | Praline | Golden Syrup

A clean and smooth coffee, with bright acidity and mellow body. A very sweet espresso. Notes of butter, praline and golden syrup. The varietals of this coffee are an interesting mix - first, you have the really classic and popular Catuai and Caturra, both of which are versions of the famous Bourbon and are grown consistently throughout Central and South America.

About The Coffee

The farm

COCAFELOL is a great example of the good that being a part of a co-operative can do. They’re dedicated and focused on promoting sustainable agricultural practices, which has resulted in the production of a huge amount of natural fertilisers made from coffee husks and natural fungi, which are then given to farms free of charge. The business behind the production and distribution of fertiliser was actually created through the funding provided by the Fairtrade premium.

The Ocotepeque Department is in the west of Honduras, a very mountainous area focussing largely on agriculture. Right on the border with Guatemala and El Salvador, and surrounded by several national parks, it’s a stunning area with perfect conditions for coffee growing.

The varietals
The varietals of this coffee are an interesting mix - first, you have the really classic and popular Catuai and Caturra, both of which are versions of the famous Bourbon and are grown consistently throughout Central and South America. Added to those, however, is Pacamara - a hybrid of Pacas and Maragogype, this is generally characterised by large beans and a more floral profile.

What our team says

"A Honduras cappuccino, just mellow and lovely" - Paul

"The coffee that I bring to my friends' dinner parties. Crowd-pleasing, deliciously smooth and easy-going. Can't go wrong!" - Laura

Wogan

We, at Wogan Coffee, have been lovingly hand-roasting speciality, ethical, sustainable and traceable coffees since 1970. In our third generation, and a wholly independent family company, you can find us rooted in Bristol; the same city as when Mr Wogan established the business over fifty years ago. Laura and James, grandchildren of the bowler hatted gentleman, now have the ropes firmly in their grasp; James as our resident Q Grader in the Bristol Roastery Headquarters, and Laura in London.

As a wholly independent family company, living and breathing coffee for 50 years, Wogan Coffee have learnt a lot along the way - not only about coffee, but how climate affects all our futures, here and in coffee growing regions.

So, their mission is simple; to make sure that coffee doesn't cost the Earth, for your pocket and the planet, and to help this - Wogan Coffee are pledging to be Carbon Neutral by 2030; building a better future for generations to come.
