11.   Roasting Plant

Roasting Plant is a London-based coffee roastery with a distinct twist on what is typically seen in a roastery. Everything began in a garage in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. 

The founder, Mike, conceived the idea to make coffee from scratch in-store. Mike, an engineer by trade, whipped together a prototype of a machine that could mechanically roast and distribute coffee around a business using air pressure in transparent tubes using his Grandmother's old vacuum cleaner.

The innovation grew from an old vacuum cleaner into a network of coffee roasters and tubes visible in each store. Each café is outfitted with a coffee roaster suitably named the javabot, from which customers may purchase freshly roasted coffee. 

The Roasting Plant employs fluid bed coffee roasters, which use high-velocity hot air to suspend the beans. Watching them is incredible because you can see the coffee being roasted right in front of your eyes. This isn't feasible in most UK coffee roasters that utilise traditional drum roasters.

Monmouth coffee is sourced and roasted from single farms, estates, and cooperatives. 

Throughout the year, the Monmouth Coffee Company crew frequently travel. They visit the farmers and cooperatives with whom they presently deal. All the while seeking intriguing varieties of coffee and new farms from which to purchase.
