Our Story..
hello coffee! - was born from a love for coffee and health.
For most of my life I couldn't drink black coffee, like many people I found it too bitter and I would just add milk or even sugar. For me coffee wasn't just a pleasure, it actually helped my health. I have a rare ear condition causing dizziness and I discovered a morning coffee really helped me..
One day my brother bought me a black filter from a local speciality cafe, I took a sip and for the first time in my life, I tasted black coffee that wasn't bitter - Instead I tasted sweet berries, a little chocolate and a wonderful tangy and sweet aftertaste.. which I later came to learn was called acidity.
I later discovered the main difference was the coffee my brother bought me was freshly roasted, and within just a week of me drinking it. This preserved all the oils in the beans and created a completely different experience.
It was unlike any coffee I had tasted before. I was hooked!
From this day I started to only buy freshly roasted beans from some of the great independent roasters across the UK.
I learned the brewing methods, from V60 to Chemex and started drinking awesome freshly roasted coffee at home every day.. It really helped my dizziness and motivation.
I soon learned there was a big difference between roasters and how they chose to bring out different flavours in their roast, from citrus fuity light coffees, to sweet berry or nutty chocolate, and even floral fruity coffees. But with such a variety of different tasting notes, I found it really hard to find the best beans for my personal taste. Then I had a lightbulb moment..
