Acacia Blend is our celebration of the speciality coffee world, featuring a seasonal rotation of the cleanest and sweetest coffees from our favourite farms and producers.

With its delicate, sweet, and fruity flavours, Acacia works well for both espresso and brewed coffee alike. Components rotate seasonally, bringing you the freshest beans from our producing partners around the world.

This latest version of Acacia Blend currently showcases two sparkling washed coffees from Africa and South America, resulting in a mild and unique brew particularly enjoyable for black coffee lovers.

Tanzania - as most of you might know - is a diverse East African country featuring mountainous regions, extensive plains, and large lakes. Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak, is located in the northeast, alongside forested areas. The country also includes parts of the Great Lakes, including Lake Victoria and Lake Tanganyika. This washed coffee, called Iyenga, comes from the Iyenga Cooperative, based in the Songwe region - known for its rich agricultural production - in the south of Tanzania, bordering Zambia and Malawi. This is the location of the Mbozi District, which contains 175 villages and around 515,000 people.

The cooperative was established in 2003 with a membership of 64 farmers, and it has since grown to 193 members. Most members' farms are between 0.5 and 1.5 hectares and are typically intercropped with bananas, beans, and groundnuts. However, coffee production remains the primary source of income. In the past decade, the cooperative has made significant investments in its machinery, including a new eco-pulper financed through governmental funds, and the construction of a new wet mill.

Members deliver their coffee cherries to a central processing unit, where the coffee is washed and fermented in tanks for 12 to 24 hours. It is then washed again with clean water and placed on raised drying tables until it reaches a moisture level of 11 to 12 percent. The flavour notes of black cherry and red berries dominate, with subtle tones of milk chocolate.

To complement the blend, we sourced a second component from Colombia.

The department of Huila’s unique agroclimatic conditions make it a key player in Colombian coffee production, bordered to the east and west by mountain ranges and traversed by the mighty Magdalena River. Bruselas, part of the municipality of Pitalito, sits in southern Huila and is bordered on both sides by national parks. It is here that much of the coffee in the Andes region is produced — hence the name Andino for this delicious coffee.

This coffee is a blend of the varieties Castillo, Caturra, and Bourbon, sun-dried on parabolic-covered patios and raised beds.

Andino’s geographic features create the perfect environment for producing this lot, which showcases subtle floral notes and fruity flavours such as blackberry, plum, and green grape, with the incomparable sweetness of tropical fruits.

Simply put: this new Acacia Blend is a complex and balanced coffee. Enjoy the subtle floral aroma of hibiscus, followed by notes of nougat with hints of red apple, redcurrant, and cranberry — all wrapped in a syrupy texture of fig compote, with a very sweet aftertaste of tropicals such as grapefruit and papaya.
