Acacia Blend is our celebration of the ever-changing world of speciality coffee. It brings together some of the cleanest, sweetest and most exciting seasonal coffees from our favourite farms and producers around the world.

The coffees that make up Acacia change throughout the year, allowing us to work with fresh harvests as they arrive and showcase what's tasting particularly special right now.

This latest Acacia brings together two sparkling washed coffees from Nicaragua and Ecuador. The result is a beautifully clean and vibrant cup, with delicate florals, natural sweetness and a refreshing citrus finish.

Expect hibiscus, sugarcane and citrus fruits – bright enough to shine as a filter, with enough sweetness and body to make a seriously good espresso.

NICARAGUA – FINCA SAN RAMON

The first component comes from Finca San Ramon, nestled within the Dipilto mountain range in Nicaragua, a beautiful nature reserve close to the Honduran border.

The farm belongs to Donald Efrain Roque, a third-generation coffee producer following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. Coffee has been part of Donald's life for as long as he can remember, but his journey into speciality coffee really accelerated after discovering Nicaragua's Cup of Excellence competition in 2006.

Donald entered to better understand the potential of his coffee. After achieving a strong result, he became determined to push quality even further, returning to the competition in 2009 and 2011 and achieving further success.

Moving from conventional farming into speciality coffee meant changing the way coffee was harvested and processed, as well as investing time in training the people working alongside him.

Donald has now worked with our import partners Caravela for five years and continues to look for ways to improve his coffee. He is a passionate believer in the potential of Dipilto and Nueva Segovia to produce exceptional speciality coffee and encourages other farmers in the region to focus on quality too.

ECUADOR – ALTOS DE SARAGUALLAS

For the second half of Acacia, we travel south to Puyango, Ecuador.

Puyango is a beautiful region of rolling hills, lush valleys and fertile farmland, where coffee plays an important role in both the landscape and the local economy.

Among the mountains surrounding Lagunas de Saraguallas is a community of coffee farmers whose harvests come together to create Altos de Saraguallas.

It's a remarkable growing area, shaped by the Saraguallas and Santa Ana waterways. Their convergence forms Las Juntas, which eventually becomes the Puyango River. Combined with the region's fertile soils and favourable climate, this creates fantastic conditions for producing high-quality coffee.

The coffees from these producers bring sweetness, clarity and vibrancy to Acacia, pairing beautifully with Donald's Nicaraguan coffee.
