About The Coffee

OUR MODERN CLASSIC

Anthem Blend is our gateway into specialty coffee: familiar and easygoing, but with plenty of character.

This version combines a naturally processed Mundo Novo grown by Patrícia Coelho in Mogiana, Brazil, with a bright washed coffee from Huila, Colombia.

Patrícia runs her family coffee business alongside her son Pedro, an agronomist who lives on-site and oversees processing. Their two farms, Santo Antônio and São Benedito, have very different landscapes. The steeper, higher areas are carefully hand-picked, while the flatter, lower sections can be mechanically harvested. Patrícia continues to experiment with different varieties and microlots, with a focus on quality and consistency.

The Colombian component comes from Bruselas in southern Huila, an exceptional coffee-growing region surrounded by mountains and national parks. A blend of Castillo, Caturra and Bourbon varieties, the coffee is carefully processed and sun-dried on covered patios and raised beds.

Together, the two coffees create a sweet, balanced cup with creamy milk chocolate, juicy grapefruit and refreshing white melon. Anthem makes a bold, fruity espresso, a full-bodied filter and becomes beautifully smooth and creamy with milk.

And though we’ve since stretched our latte-fuelled legs beyond that converted three-wheeled Piaggio Ape, we’re the same coffee up-and-comers waxing lyrical about single origin beans to the good people of Waltham Forest.A few years on, we now have three shops within the borough, and supply to over 60 stores – including Whole Foods, The Conran Shop, Anthropology, and the award-winning Eat17 Spar shops.

In the last few years, we’ve been featured in the Indy Best’s ‘Best Coffee Subscription Services,’ and have won two Time Out Awards as the ‘Best Coffee Place’ within three London Postcodes. And we’ve opened our second roastery, with a state-of-the-art 20kg Petrocini Specialty Roaster that we’re pretty proud of, and plenty more space to swing cats/coffee sacks.Coffee can sometimes be a secretive, snobbish industry – but we want to change that perception. So whether you’re a V60 veteran or you’re just taking your first baby(chino) steps in learning how to brew, you’re welcome in the Perky family.
