About The Coffee

Kamwangi AA marks the beginning of an exciting series: three exceptional Kenyan coffees from this year’s harvest, released one at a time. Each coffee will highlight a different facet of Kenya’s renowned coffee heritage. Kamwangi sets the tone with its juicy acidity, layered sweetness, and vibrant fruit character, a true showcase of what makes Kenyan coffee world class.

Kamwangi is one of three factories operated by the New Ngariama Farmers Cooperative Society, located in the fertile foothills of Mount Kenya. This region is renowned for its rich volcanic soils, high altitudes, and ideal climate, all of which contribute to the exceptional quality of its coffees.

The cooperative comprises around 1,500 smallholder farmers, each cultivating coffee on small plots averaging 0.5 hectares. Farmers deliver ripe cherries to the Kamwangi washing station, where meticulous processing ensures clarity and consistency in the cup.

Moon Roast Coffee

Nestled deep in the heart of rural Hampshire, Moon Roast is an award winning, specialty coffee roastery with a rich family heritage in the trade. We source ethically and think sustainably, hand roasting in small batches daily.

In 2012, Francis Bradshaw, inspired by a family heritage in the coffee and tea trades spanning four generations, commissioned a Probat Coffee Roaster in a small barn in his backyard and began roasting at night after a day’s work. By the light of the moon and under the watchful gaze of the village owl, Fran set about developing roast profiles for carefully selected beans. Before long he was supplying freshly roasted coffee to local people and businesses. And so Moon Roast was born.
