In 2023, our founder Fran travelled to Alto Ihuamaca, Peru, to meet coffee producer Clever Neyra and the community around his 1.5-hectare farm near the San Ignacio conservation area. Clever is part of a new generation of Peruvian growers investing in quality and land stewardship: after inheriting his family’s plot, he let the soils rest before planting Bourbon and Geisha in 2020, and now works the young farm with support from his cousins.

Clever is also deeply connected to a wider network of farmers through Falcon Coffees Peru, whose community-first model brings training, traceability, and quality premiums directly to producers. From agronomy workshops to soil-health initiatives and long-term quality projects, this collective effort strengthens hundreds of farms across northern Peru. Fran’s visit underscored what makes this region special: committed growers like Clever, supported by a collaborative community that is building a more sustainable and rewarding future for Peruvian coffee.

FCP also runs multi-year sustainability initiatives, including:

• Falcon Specialty Plus, which has achieved an average +1.32 point cup score improvement, with top scores reaching 88 and 107 producers enrolled.
• A Soil Health Initiative supporting 600 farmers to improve soil conditions, reduce chemical use, meet GCP-equivalent standards, and generate farm-level carbon data.
