Our Brazilian component comes from Patricia Coelho’s farm, who grows coffee at her higher altitude farm in the Mogiana region. Collaborating with Patricia Coelho aligns with one of our three core sourcing principles of female economic empowerment. This is our fourth year working with Patricia, where we have seen an improvement in quality year-on-year. We look forward to many more years working with Patricia.

The Colombian component - Valientes - is produced by farmers local to southern Tolima. Individuals in the region have turned to careers in beekeeping and coffee cultivation, after historically being involved in armed conflict. Due to the climate of the region, there is a focus on shade-grown crops.

The farmers in southern Tolima, have chosen paths of peace and sustainability, contributing to their communities through agriculture, whilst fostering environmental conservation and cultural heritage. Their journey reflects resilience, determination, and a commitment to building a peaceful and prosperous future beyond conflict.

Purposefully sourcing coffees from these farmers looking to move away from armed conflict is the result of a collaborative project between Redemption Roasters and Caravela. This is just one way that we can extend our mission of reducing reoffending to producing communities.

This is our first year of purchasing Valientes, but we have committed to purchasing increasing volumes every year up until 2027. This commitment to volumes is one way we can make the coffee industry fairer.
